BANGKOK, Aug 29 (TNA) – The Department of Health Service Support has successfully built a robot for a physical therapy of children, suffering from cerebral palsy and monoplegia, the first of its kind in Thailand.
The innovation is a step forward for Thailand to compete in health, wellness and bio-med in the global arena, said the department’s director-general, Dr. Nutthawut Prasertsiripong.
Health and Medical Industry has grown consistently. The global medical equipment market grew 6.4 per cent annually. The medical equipment industry has a good potential, he said.
The newly-developed robot is a tool for treadmill-walking training with the body support system for child patients, having functional weakness in arms or legs. Repeated exercises on this specially-designed equiment will help pateints regain their muscular strength. (TNA)
