BANGKOK, Oct 23 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, his wife, cabinet ministers, their spouses, armed forces chiefs and representatives of independent organizations gave alms to 570 Buddhist monks to mark the Chulalongkorn Memorial Day.
The ceremony started at 6.15am to remember the passing of King Chulalongkorn, the 5th monarch of the Chakri Dynasty.
Prime Minister Prayut also presided over another ceremony to lay wreaths at the King Rama V Equestrian Monument on the Royal Plaza.
Pink-clad people including representatives of governmental and private organizations joined the ceremony to remember King Rama V’s great contributions to protect national sovereignty.
At 7pm, the prime minister will preside over a candlelit ceremony at the Sanam Luang ground to remember and honour King Rama V. The government invites people nationwide to wear pink clothes and join the ceremony at the same time. (TNA)
