BANGKOK, Oct 17 (TNA)- Adm Philip S. Davidson, the US
Indo-Pacific commander, paid a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut
Chan-o-cha at Government House on Wednesday, affirming strong military alliance
between the US and Thailand to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Deputy government spokesman Weerachon Sukhontapatipak said
the Thai prime minister expressed his hope for fruitful outcomes of high-level
defense official talks during Adm. Davidson’s visit.
Gen Prayut also thanked the US Indo-Pacific Command for
sending its personnel to join the cave rescue operation in Chiang Rai, northern
Thailand, in June and July, said Lt. Gen. Weerachon.
Adm Davidson praised long-standing US-Thai alliance that had
contributed to peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific, according to the deputy
government spokesman.
The two nations agreed to strengthen alliance and promote
mechanisms for bilateral, Lt. Gen. Weerachon said.
The Thai prime minster stated that he hoped for US
assistance for Thai security and intelligence agencies to enhance their
capabilities in order to face new challenges, said the deputy government
