PATHUM THANI, Oct 17 (TNA) – Police have filed charges against the father and the stepmother of the 14-year-old boy for allegedly assaulting their son, who were forced to flee home in Pathum Thani by his bicycle.
The couple were arrested at a relative’s house in Bangkok’s Saimai district yesterday. The boy’s father admitted to punish the boy but the stepmother denied the allegation. They were detained for questioning. The couple were charged with assaulting, detaining the boy and using violence in the family.
The boy’s mother took her son to file complaints to the police that the boy had been assaulted for seven years. He decided to escape from home in Pathum Thani, riding his bicycle about 40 kms. to Bangkok’s Victory Monument, where he called his mother in the eastern province of Rayong to pick him up.
Pol Maj Gen Surapong Thanomchit, commander of the Pathum Thani provincial police said the officials from the social development and human security office were in charge to look after the boy and his mother in Rayong and cooperated with the police in Pathum Thani.
The boy was picked up to give statement in the presence of a multidisciplinary team. Witnesses confirmed to the police that the father and the stepmother assaulted the boy. Investigators are waiting for the result of the boy’s medical examination to prove that both old and new wounds on the boy’s body match evidence to proceed the case. Several witnesses have been questioned in the meantime. (TNA)
