BANGKOK, October 10 (TNA) – Alibaba Group Holding Limited has expressed its interest in promoting Thai orchids and jewelry products on the Tmall.com website, the China-based conglomerate’s growing e-commerce system.
Thai Deputy Commerce Minister Chutima Bunyapraphasara told journalists of the update on October 9, following a recent meeting of her ministry’s executives and those of Alibaba Group Holding Limited, which is a globally-renowned multinational firm specializing in e-commerce, retail, Internet, artificial intelligence (AI) and other innovative
technologies.
“Alibaba’s new cooperation follows the company’s successful move in promoting and selling the Netherlands’ tulips on the website, especially to younger generations’ clients in the immense Chinese market”, Chutima said.
The deputy minister revealed that Alibaba Group Holding Limited’s executives view the additional two Thai products have promising prospect in China and other global markets, after Thai durian and other fruits, as well as rice have already been promoted and accessed to global consumers more widely through the company’s e-commerce system.
According to the deputy minister, Alibaba Group Holding Limited has, however, asked her ministry to also launch campaigns on promoting Thai rice and orchids, as well as other products among Chinese visitors to the Thai Kingdom, along with the company’s online promotion and sale. (TNA)
