BANGKOK, July 29 (TNA) – The Royal Thai Army (RTA) reports that Cambodian forces have violated a recent ceasefire agreement, launching attacks across the border despite Thailand’s adherence to the ceasefire, which came into effect at midnight on July 28.
Maj Gen Winthai Suvaree, RTA spokesperson, stated that Cambodian military operations, including disturbances and shelling, were detected throughout the night and morning in areas like Chong Bok, Chong Anma, Sam Tae, Prasat Ta Kwai, and Phu Ma Kheua.
The Thai side strictly complied with the agreement, Maj Gen Winthai affirmed, but Cambodia deliberately attacked Thai territory, breaching trust.
The RTA has condemned these actions, asserting its right to self-defense and confirming that Thai forces responded proportionately to protect national sovereignty.
Efforts to hold a meeting between military unit leaders from both sides are ongoing, with a new scheduled time of 10 a.m. on Tuesday. -819 (TNA)
