NONTHABURI, Feb 28 (TNA) – A six-year-old girl is in critical condition after being attacked by a pit bull that escaped from a neighboring property in Nonthaburi province, near Bangkok, late on Thursday.
The incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. in Pak Kret District. The girl, identified as “Nong Khai Muk,” sustained severe injuries to her head and neck after the dog, a seven-year-old male pit bull named “Solar,” dragged her from her bed and attacked her.
Rescue workers who arrived at the scene found the girl had severe head wounds, including a 1-2 cm deep laceration exposing her skull, a wound behind her right ear, and a scratch on her left arm.
She was rushed to Pak Kret 2 Hospital, where she remains under close medical supervision. The girl’s family has filed a police report at Pak Kret Police Station.
The dog’s owner, 54-year-old apologized for the incident, stating that the dog escaped after a neighbor left a gate unlatched. She expressed remorse for the girl’s injuries and pledged to take full responsibility. She also revealed that the dog had sustained a head injury after being struck with a mortar pestle by a bystander attempting to stop the attack. -819 (TNA)
