BANGKOK, July 1 (TNA) – Government subsidies through four programs are ready for spending today.
Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, spokesman for the Center for Economic Situation Administration, said beneficiaries could start spending government subsidies under the four programs today.
Among them, he referred to a program which covers 13.65 million people who hold government welfare cards. Each of them will receive 200 baht a month for six months. The government expects the program to inject 16.38 million baht into the economy.
Another program increases purchasing power for the people who need special care including bed-ridden patients. Each of 2.5 million beneficiaries under this program will also receive 200 baht a month for six months. The program will inject 3 billion baht into the national economic system.
Meanwhile, 31 million people will get 3,000 baht through the Khon La Khrueng co-payment program. About 28 million people have registered for their participation. Under the program, the government pays up to 150 baht a day to subsidize each recipient’s spending. The program will cost the state 93 billion baht and is expected to put 186 billion baht in circulation.
The other program is Ying Chai Ying Dai (the more you spend, the more you get) initiated to motivate 4 million people with purchasing power to spend. More than 400,000 people have registered with the program that is aimed to inject about 268 billion baht into the economy.
The government hopes the four programs will help people affected by COVID-19 and stimulate the economy. (TNA)
