SAMUT PRAKAN, October 22 (TNA) – A gas pipe explosion killed three people in Samut Prakan province, on the eastern outskirts of Bangkok, on Thursday.
Fifty-two others have been injured when the gas pipe of Thailand’s largest petroleum company, PTT, blasted with huge fires in Bang Bo district.
The explosion at around 1 pm sent residents in the area panicked out of their homes and a nearby school.
But three people including two elderly women in their 80s were killed in their homes, police said.
The blast that occurred near a station destroyed four houses and partly damaged six others.
According to local officials, a construction vehicle nearby might have caused the explosion.
In its statement, PTT says the natural gas leaked from a pipe leading to the Asia Industrial Estate Suvaranabhumi and caught fire about 12.55 pm. (TNA)
