BANGKOK, August 18 (TNA) – Thailand’s Public Health Ministry is investigating the case of a Malaysian visitor to Bangkok who tested positive for Covid-19 after he returned to his homeland.
The 46-year-old man was staying at a condominium in Bangkok before returning to Malaysia on August 5, according to Dr Thanarak Plipat, Deputy Director-General of the Disease Control Department.
The man was asymptomatic upon his return. He was confirmed to have contracted with the coronavirus on August 15 after a second test in a quarantine facility, said Dr Thanarak.
The fact that the man had been in the quarantine facility in Malaysia for 10 days until he was tested positive indicated that he could catch the virus after leaving Thailand, he said.
However, the Department and local health officials had conducted contact tracing to identify those who came to contact with the man during his stay in Thailand.
Thailand has reported no locally-transmitted COVIC-19 cases for more than 80 days. (TNA)
