KHON KAEN, March 4 (TNA) – Severe summer storms swept through northeastern Thailand, causing extensive damage in Khon Kaen and Nakhon Phanom provinces, including collapsed roofs and downed power lines.
In Khon Kaen, strong winds ripped off roofs of buildings, including a construction materials store, and toppled more than 30 high-voltage electricity poles along a road. The storm also caused power outages in several areas. Khon Kaen Governor Kraison Kongchalad said authorities were assessing the damage across the province.
In Nakhon Phanom’s Tha Uthen district, a hailstorm damaged over 100 houses, with 20 suffering severe damage. Local authorities are providing emergency assistance and assessing the extent of the damage, with financial aid of up to 30,000 baht per household. The provincial government is also coordinating with the military to provide additional support for repairs. -819 (TNA)
