UDON THANI, Dec 9 (TNA) – Thai health authorities are investigating a massage shop in Udon Thani after a young folk singer died following a neck massage.
Chayada “Ping” Phuphrao, 20, passed away on December 8 after experiencing paralysis and becoming bedridden for nearly two months.
The singer had reportedly visited the massage shop in October, where she said she underwent a neck manipulation procedure. Shortly after, she began experiencing numbness and weakness in her limbs, eventually leading to paralysis.
Health officials from the Udon Thani Public Health Office conducted an inspection of the massage shop on December 8, checking if the establishment and its masseurs were properly licensed. While some masseurs were found to be registered, others were still under investigation.
The manager of the massage parlor denied that the establishment offered neck twisting techniques, claiming that such practices were dangerous and against their training. However, the manager admitted that they could not confirm if the deceased singer had received such a treatment, as the shop had a high turnover of clients and masseurs.
The singer’s mother expressed deep sorrow and frustration over her daughter’s death, blaming the massage shop for negligence. She said that her daughter had been a healthy young woman prior to the massage.
Medical experts have warned against the dangers of neck manipulations, particularly when performed by untrained individuals. Such procedures can lead to serious injuries including paralysis. -819 (TNA)
