NONG KHAI, Oct 11 (TNA) – Crowds of tourists stormed into the northeastern province by the Mekong River to witness “Naga Fireballs” shooting up from the water into the sky and they were not disappointed.
A related festival was organized at the Naga Boek Fa field by the Mekong River in Phon Phisai district. Highlights included a traditional dance by about 1,000 people to worship the Naga deity. Actor Khemanit “Pancake” Jamikorn was among the dancers.
Phon Phisai and Ratana Wapi districts were the main venues of the annual Naga Fireball festival in Nong Khai. The phenomenon attracted lots of people to the province every year to see fireballs miraculously shooting up from the Mekong River at night.
This year visitors were impressed as “Naga Fireballs” started to fly skywards from the Mekong River in the evening. Apart from witnessing the “Naga Fireballs” phenomenon, tourists also enjoyed the sights of illuminated boats and performances on stages as well as food fairs.
The event coincided with the end of the Buddhist Lent and effectively stimulated the economy of Nong Khai every year. (TNA)
