BANGKOK, Sept 7 (TNA) – The Central Administrative Court ordered the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Krungthep Thanakom Co to pay 11.75 billion baht in the debt they owed the operator of Green Line electric railway.
The court ordered the two organizations to pay the debt to Bangkok Mass Transit System Corporation (BTSC), the operator of the Green Line, aka the BTS service. The company earlier accused both of failing to honor their contract to pay for the operation and maintenance of two stages of the Green Line extension.
According to the ruling of the court, BMA and its business company KT must pay 2.34 billion baht for the operation and maintenance of Saphan Taksin-Wong Wian Yai-Bang Wa and On Nut-Bearing extension routes from May 2019 to May 2021 and 9.41 billion baht for Bearing-Samut Prakan and Mo Chit-Saphan Mai-Kho Khot sections from April 2017 to May 2021.
The court ordered BMA and KT to pay the debt within 180 days after the case is finalized. The demand already included interest.
Meanwhile, a KT representative said the company would appeal against the ruling. The KT board would discuss the issue tomorrow and propose its plan to Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt later. (TNA)
