BANGKOK, Aug 29 (TNA) – The government is confidently introducing Thailand’s soft power to the international community as CNN Travel has praised the country’s Khai Chiao Pu crab omelet, Khao Soi curry noodle soup and Sai Krok Isan (northeastern pork sausage) as being among the best Asian street foods.
Anucha Burapachaisri, deputy secretary-general to the prime minister and acting government spokesman, said Thailand’s street foods continued to impress international consumers as CNN Travel included the three dishes of Thai street foods in its “50 of the best street foods in Asia”.
According to Mr Anucha, CNN Travel preferred the taste of Thailand’s crab omelet (Khai Chiao Pu) to other egg dishes. The combination of egg and crab made the dish both crispy and fluffy. Its taste would be further enhanced if it was consumed with sweet chilli sauce, CNN Travel said.
For Khao Soi, the northern Thai dish is curry soup with chicken or beef and deep-fried egg noodles. Sai Krok Isan is a sour street food of the Northeast. It was made from seasoned pork mixed with garlic and glutinous rice and hung to dry and ferment, CNN described.
“Thailand is popular for its wide range of foods resulting from the cultivation and livestock of different localities and regions. Unique Thai foods have always been popular. The government is aware of the competitive edge and is actively and internationally campaigning for the soft power of Thai foods and other products to increase their economic value and generate national income,” Mr Anucha said.
