PHUKET, July 7 (TNA) – The first Covid-infected tourist was found in Phuket after its reopening on July 1.
The province on Wednesday reported two new coronavirus cases including a tourist from the UAE.
He was tested for Covid-19 at Phuket airport upon arrival yesterday and went to the hotel.
The test result came out positive around 10 p.m. and he was taken to hospital.
Fourteen people, who had arrived in the same group entered 14-day quarantine for observation as well as some Thai people such as the van driver, who picked up the tourist at the airport.
The province kicked off the Phuket Sandbox scheme to reopen the island to foreign tourists on July 1. Phuket recorded 755 Covid-19 cases in total. (TNA)
