BANGKOK, Dec 29 (TNA) – The Food and Drug Administration will fine a private hospital for advertising a COVID-19 vaccine without registration and stressed that it controlled the local availability of all vaccines.
FDA secretary-general Dr Paisarn Dunkum said the legal action targeted a private hospital that invited people to order imported COVID-19 vaccines from it.
He said that the Drug Act defined vaccines as medicine and any production or import of any vaccine must be registered with the FDA that was duty-bound to verify the quality and safety of vaccines first.
The FDA had not registered any COVID-19 vaccine yet, he said.
Dr Paisarn said that the FDA was ready to quickly register COVID-19 vaccines so that there would be enough vaccines for Thai people.
FDA deputy secretary-general Supattra Boonserm said the FDA halted the COVID-19 vaccine advertisement of the private hospital and its management would be fined for 100,000 baht.
She warned people not to acquire any vaccine by themselves because they could be fatally allergic. Vaccines must be used under experts’ supervision, she said. (TNA)
