SAMUT SAKHON, Dec 17 (TNA) – A shrimp wholesaler aged 67 contracted coronavirus disease 2019 without having travelled abroad, the provincial governor said.
Governor Weerasak Wijitsaengsri said the woman initially had body ache and lost the sense of smell. She went to a private hospital on Dec 13 and then moved to Samut Sakhon Hospital on Dec 17. The woman had neither travelled out of her province nor gone abroad.
Eighteen people had been in close contact with her. Ten of them tested negative for COVID-19 and the rest eight were waiting for results. The eight include two Myanmar workers.
The market where the woman worked was closed one day for disinfection.
Health officials have offered Covid testing there on the second day after about 100 people were tested yesterday. (TNA)
