BANGKOK, Oct 13 (TNA) – Thailand recorded two new patients of the coronavirus disease 2019, Thai returnees from the United States and Sweden.
The Department of Disease Control stated that both returnees were quarantined and raised the total of COVID-19 cases in the country to 3,643.
Three patients recovered over the past 24 hours and the total of recovery cases increased to 3,457. The death toll stood still at 59.
Meanwhile, Dr Thares Krassanairawiwong, director-general of the Department of Health Service Support, proposed a new quarantine solution that would allow quarantined people to visit specified tourist destinations instead of staying inside their rooms during the 14-day quarantine period.
Routes to their tourist destinations would be fixed and the tourists would be tracked to make sure they would stay on their routes. Besides, officials would accompany them on the way.
Officials of the department discussed the idea with authorities of the provinces that were popular tourist destinations and ready for the implementation. Officials had yet to ask local residents if they would support the idea, Dr Thares said.
