SONGKHLA, August 11 (TNA) – Thailand’s southern province of Songkhla has launched a programme to promote Nora, a traditional dance that has been nominated for a place on UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
To preserve the unique Thai dance drama, Songkhla had been obliged to conserve the cultural heritage and raise awareness on the folk dance among the youth, said Deputy Songkhla Governor Narit Mongkholsri.
The three-day event from Monday to Wednesday features performances, exhibition on the history of Nora and the ritual ceremony associated to religious belief.
Nora is a colourful dance performed by dancers in lively and colourful costumes with unique long nails. The lively dance is accompanied by rhythmic music. (TNA)
