BANGKOK, Dec 16 (TNA) – The Royal Thai Police Office will strictly enforce traffic rules to boost road safety for people who will be traveling during their New Year holiday.
Pol Col Krisana Patanacharoen, deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police Office, said the law enforcement would focus on speed limits and the conditions of motorists to prevent them from driving with alcoholic influences or tiredness.
He expected the New Year exodus would start from the Christmas Day and peak on Friday 27th December.
Pol Col Krisana also said that police would be suppressing crime and preventing untoward incidents before, during and after the New Year festival. Police would intensify attempts to arrest criminal suspects wanted under arrest warrants, secure important places, and thoroughly screen visitors.
Besides, the police deputy spokesman said people could participate in the police’s project to guard the residences of New Year travellers from Dec 24 to Jan 2. The number of participants rose by 30% yearly last year, he said. (TNA)
