BANGKOK, Dec 11 (TNA) – Levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) has breached the safe threshold in 23 districts of the capital.
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Environment Department reported that PM 2.5 levels, measured between 5-7 a.m. ranged from 47-71 microgrammes per cubic metre (µg/m³) or 59 µg/m³ on average.
City clerk Silpasuay Raweesaengsoon said the levels of tiny dust tended to rise on Wednesday and surpassed the safety standard in 23 districts.
Those districts are Ratchathewi, Samphanthawong, Phaya Thai, Wang Thonglang, Pathumwan, Bang Rak, Bang Kho Laem, Yan Nawa, Bang Kapi, Lat Krabang, Thon Buri, Khlong San, Bangkok Noi, Phasi Charoen, Bang Khen, Bang Phlat, Bang Khun Thian, Phra Nakhon, Sathorn, Khlong Toei, Bang Sue, Laksi and Bueng Kum.
People, who are exposed to poor air quality and have symptoms like coughing, eye irritation, breathing difficulties advised to reduce their outdoor activities. The elderly children and patients with respiratory diseases should wear protective gears when going outdoors.
