BANGKOK, Oct 9 (TNA) – Thailand’s National
Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is hosting the roundtable discussion attended
by high-level representatives and heads of anti-corruption agencies from ASEAN
countries.
Presiding over the opening ceremony of the 15th
Principals’ meeting of the Southeast Asia Parties Against Corruption (SEA- PAC)
in Bangkok on Wednesday, NACC chairman Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit said that
participants would share their countries’ and agencies’ experiences in
implementing initiatives and efforts aimed at strengthening anti-corruption
collaboration in the region.
It was a consensus among ASEAN countries that collective
steps were needed among the anti-corruption bodies in ASEAN in order to boost
confidence in ASEAN, he said.
Mr. Watcharapol stressed Thailand’s determination to take a
leading role in battling corruption in the region and to push forward new
initiatives for stronger collaboration.
SEA-PAC is an ASEAN entity comprising national-level
anti-corruption agencies that has brought together practitioners and experts
from across ASEAN and other countries to share good practices and lessons.
At this meeting, SEA-PAC is expected to endorse an action
plan against corruption for 2020-2022.(TNA)
