BANGKOK, Aug 8 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha
on Thursday laid down policy guidelines in a conference of ministers, senior
state officials and head of the armed forces.
Addressing over 800 officials, Gen Prayut gave a number of
instructions on government policies in his lengthy speech, covering short-term
and long-term goals as well as political issues.
He urged state officials to work as a unified force to
overcome obstacles and carry out coalition government’s election pledges.
On the call for constitutional revision, the prime minister
told the gathering that he did not oppose the demand but it must be agreed upon
by the public.
The opposition parties have been pushing for charter
amendments, claiming the current Constitution is undemocratic.
The Constitution was no problematic; it was how it was
enforced, Gen Prayut said.
The premier also appealed political parties to work for the
benefits of the people and the nation as a whole. (TNA)
