PHETCHABURI, June 28 (TNA) – The Kaeng Krachan
National Park showed the footage of the leopard family, recorded in the park,
believed to safer and more abundant for the wildlife.
Mana Permpoon, head
of the Kaeng Krachan National Park said that camera traps were installed to
record the wildlife, roaming in the forest.
The footage showed the pictures of an adult Indochinese
leopard and two cubs. It is good news for Thai conservationists as it is the
evidence the Kaeng Krachan National Park in Phetchaburi is abundant, based on
the growing population of the leopards, the predator on the top of the food
chain.
The Wildlife Conservation Society and the World
Wildlife Fund installed 120 camera traps in the Kaeng Krachan National Park.
According to the study, about 5-6 Indochinese leopards and black leopards are
found at every 16 square kilometers. The leopards and rare species are found
more frequently.
Cooperation with conservation organizations and the
policies from the Department of the National Park Department, Wildlife and Plant
Conservation increase efficiency in the forest conservation with more frequent
patrols by park rangers.
Moreover, the studies and researches also support
conservation work, leading to the increasing population of the rare wildlife.
Local residents and communities also join the
conservation network to protect the forest and alert officials about
irregularity in the real-time manner. (TNA)
