BANGKOK, May 21 (TNA) – Welfare card holders can now use their credit in the cards for the Airport Rail Link today for the first day.
It is expected that about 4,000 welfare card holders will use the cards to commute on the Airport Rail Link each day. It serves about 90,000 passengers daily.
Suthep Phanpheng, managing director of Electrified Train Co, operator of the Airport Rail Link said welfare card holders can inform their destinations and deduct the credit in their cards at the station service counters.
Each registered low-income earner carries a welfare card that gives them 500 baht each month to be used for public transportation.
Meanwhile, the Mangmoon (spider) cards are expected to be usable for the Airport Rail Link in September.
The Mangmoon card is the single ticketing system, which will allow city commuters to carry a single pass for Skytrain, MRT, and Airport Rail Link.
The Airport Rail Link operator has also upgraded service for the physically-challenged passengers. It spent 400,000 baht to procure 16 foldable wheelchair ramps for them at each station. (TNA)
