BANGKOK, May 3 (TNA) — Some 150,000 hats have been prepared to give away to the general public on May 5 to protect themselves from the strong sunlight, Police Strategy Office commissioner Lt-Gen Kraiboon Suadsong said on Thursday.
Lt Gen Kraiboon told reporters after attend a meeting of the committee tasked with providing security and order during the coronation ceremony that the authorities have arranged some 150,000 hats to be distributed to the public who will be lining the 7-kilometre stretch of the roads to greet His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn on Sunday during the “Liap Phranakhon” royal procession after the coronation ceremony.
He said the the public could pick up the hats at six seceening points around the ceremonial area to protect themselves from the sunlight. It was believed the numbers of the hats will be enough for all people there.
Lt Gen Kraiboon stressed that the umbrallas were not banned but the hats have been prepared so that it was not necessary for the public to bring hats or umbrallas from homes.
People have been advised to not spend the night or show up too early to reserve good viewing spots.
He said the 22 screening points would be opened at noon and people can place themselves in any of the 23 zones along the 7km route by 3pm. (TNA)
