BANGKOK, April 10 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Prayut
Chan-o-cha on Wednesday led his cabinet ministers and senior military officers
and government officials to extend their best wishes on the occasion of the
Songkran festival to Privy Council president and statesman Prem Tinsulanonda
who in response insisted that the government of Gen Prayut was ‘not corrupt’.
In the meeting at Gen Prem’s Si Sao Thewes residence, Gen
Prayut said he was always secure and happy to see Gen Prem remained healthy and
was capable of advising his government.
All the people there had longstanding, good ties thanks to
their education at the military academies where they were taught to have faith
in and work for the nation, religions and the monarch and the stance would
never fade, Gen Prayut said.
In response, Gen Prem said that he was pleased to see the
prime minister, the armed forces and government officials taking good care of
the nation. He also said that he could confidently assure that the government
was not corrupt and was genuinely working for the public interest.
“The people who are honest have wide visions, help others
and do not serve their own interest or protect their siblings. I always tell
friends that they can see by themselves if the government is capable or not.
But I can say with confidence that the government of Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha is
not corrupt,” Gen Prem said.
He also encouraged Gen Prayut to maintain national cultures,
saying the conservation of cultures and traditions is equivalent to the
protection of the nation.
“I wish the charisma of His Majesty the King to protect us
so that we can do good. I wish everyone has goodness that will benefit 70
million citizens,” Gen Prem said.(TNA)
