BANGKOK, April 5 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission plan to bury communication cables within two years.
Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang discussed the issue with NBTC secretary-general Takorn Tantasith.
After the meeting, Mr Aswin said communication cables would be kept in microducts that would be buried about 80 centimeters under sidewalks for the sake of city tidiness. The work would start after coronation ceremonies or late next month, he said.
NBTC secretary-general Takorn said the work would happen on a combined distance of 1,260 kilometers on both sides of main and minor roads throughout Bangkok. The NBTC would introduce reasonable fees for the use of the underground microducts, he said.
Besides, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority will bury power transmission lines about four meters under Bangkok streets. (TNA)
