CHON BURI, Aug 14 (TNA) – Twelve Chinese nationals
have been arrested for defrauding their fellow countrymen with online scam
based in Thailand’s seaside province of Chon Buri.
Police said all 12 Chinese suspects entered Thailand as
tourists before running a bogus retail service via QQ application targeting
people in mainland China.
In a raid at a rental house in Chon Buri on Tuesday, police
found 12 computers, documents and bank accounts with over 1 million baht flowing
in and out.
The group rented the luxury house for 95,000 baht a month while
each one of them received 20,000 baht in monthly salary plus commissions, police
said.
They deployed tactic to lure the victims to spend on goods
but after making payments the victims never received the items, according to police.
The 12 suspects were charged with immigration law and alien
employment law violations.(TNA)
