BANGKOK, Aug 10 (TNA) – In an attempt to assist poor people and to move the Thai economy forward, the Thai government will soon consider ways to help the poor who individually earn less than 5,344 baht monthly, said a government spokeswoman.
The cabinet under the administration of Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha will shortly consider ways to help these poor people, numbering 26.9 million, majority of them in the farming sector which is considered as fundamental of Thai economy, said Government spokeswoman Narumon Pinyosinwat.
Presently, the government is considering a number of measures to stimulate the country’s economy such as measures to boost investment, the government’s spending and government’s welfares given to the poor, she said.
The country’s growth in the past focused heavily on industrial exports and they had caused much gap between agricultural and industrial sectors.
The government targets to strengthen grassroots economy by enabling local communities to build self-reliance under the self-sufficiency economy philosophy and to create the economic system, favourable to development in various fields, the spokeswoman said. (TNA)
