BANGKOK, July 30 (TNA) – Thai Foreign Minister and his Russian counterpart were satisfied with significantly increased cooperation and agreed to push forward for tangible results from last year’s talks.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday met Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai during his official visit to Bangkok to attend the Asean-Russia Ministerial Meeting tomorrow.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere as they discussed dynamic cooperation in the past four years, including exchange of visits between the country leaders.
The two sides agreed to do more to achieve tangible results from the talks during the 7th Session of the Joint Thai – Russian Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, hosted by Thailand in December last year.
Don proposed that Russia consider increasing its imports of agricultural goods and food from Thailand and find ways to reduce trade barriers, particularly to accelerate inspection on fishery and livestock products at Thai factories.
He invited Russia to invest in the Eastern Economic Corridor and in targeted industries in the areas of Russian expertise. Thailand asked for Russia’s support for the start of free trade negotiation between Thailand and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Thailand is hosting the 52nd ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (52nd AMM), the Post Ministerial Conferences (PMCs), and related meetings from July 29th to August 3rd in Bangkok. (TNA)
