KRABI, July 18 (TNA) – A nine-year-old boy becomes a
passionate shepherd, rearing a herd of 35 water buffaloes in the southern province of Krabi.
Bhuwarin Namuang or Zikas is living with his 68-year-old
grandmother in Mueang district. Before
going to school, the third grade student takes the herd to paddy fields and
takes them back before going home in the evening.
Zikas also possesses the skills of livestock rearing after
having been trained by his grandparents.
Moreover, he gives names to all of the 35 water buffaloes
and can unmistakably call out their names.
The boy has also attracted attention from tourists who often
take photographs of him and the herd.
“They give me 300-400 baht each time.
I collect the money for buying buffalo calves in the future,” he told
reporters.
His family members recalled Zikas’ love for buffalo had
developed since he was a baby. “He is an
extraordinary boy; no other boys of his age would go near water buffalo,” his
aunt said.(TNA)
