SONGKHLA, July 5 (TNA) — The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) expects the first phase of the special economic zone in Sadao district of Songkhla province to be completed in April next year and the second phase will be implemented right away as it interests investors.
Wicha Songprayoon, IEAT’s director for community relations, said IEAT honestly presented information about the project to people in nine villages in the vicinity of the special economic zone in Samnak Kham and Samnak Taeo sub-districts of Sadao in order to ensure smooth co-existence.
The zone focused on environment-friendly industries, especially those for processed farm products, he said.
According to Mr Wicha, 629-rai of land for the first phase of the project is being prepared for construction. At least nine Thai and Malaysian investors have expressed interest in visiting the project site.
Authorities of Songkhla province are informing local residents of the second phase of the project that will cover 298 rai of land. The provincial hall plans to hand the land plot to the IEAT in September, Mr Wicha said. (TNA)
