BANGKOK, June 24 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister/ Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon expressed his gratitude toward all parties responsible for the smooth organization of the 34th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok and also thanked people for being good hosts and cooperating with government measures for the summit.
Defence Ministry spokesman Lt Gen Kongcheep Tantrawanich said Gen Prawit extended his gratitude to securities authorities and governmental organizations that ensured the smooth organization of the ASEAN Summit.
Governmental organizations and people cooperated well with the government and that resulted in the honor of Thailand as the host of the summit, Gen Prawit was quoted as saying.
“Gen Prawit emphasized that Thailand will also host meetings for other pillars of ASEAN concerning its political, security, economic, social and cultural topics throughout this year. So he ordered security authorities to maintain their readiness and operations and use lessons in the past to improve their plans so that there will be confidence in Thailand’s roles as the chair of ASEAN that is the pride of all Thai people,” Lt Gen Kongcheep said.
