BANGKOK, June 6 (TNA) – New Zealand Ambassador to
Thailand pays a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan on
Thursday for talks on bilateral cooperation.
Taha Macpherson, who assumed the duty as New Zealand’s
Ambassador to Thailand in August last year, expressed New Zealand support for
Thailand’s chairmanship of ASEAN during the meeting at the Defence Ministry.
Gen Prawit, who is also Defence Minister, praised the strong
diplomatic relationship over the past 62 years that had seen high-level
exchange, extensive security and economic ties, according to Defence Ministry’s
deputy spokesman Col Patchasak Patiruphanon.
The ambassador said he was committed to promote military and
security cooperation between the two nations, he said.
New Zealand confirmed its participation in the ASEAN Defence
Ministerial Meeting and Defence and Security 2019. (TNA)
