BANGKOK, May 24 (TNA) – Their Majesties the King and Queen on Friday presided over the opening of parliament at Vithes Samosorn Hall of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
In his address, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn told members of both Houses of Parliament to be aware of the importance and responsibility of their duties because their actions have direct impacts on the nation’s security and people’s livelihood.
He said all of them have to use their wisdom and full capability with honesty and discretion, based on right and precise reasons under the rule of law and righteousness to continue the work for the benefit of the country.
After the official opening, a meeting will be held to select a Senate speaker and deputies.
A House speaker and deputies will be elected on the next day. It is expected the two houses will vote for the new prime minister in the final week of this month. (TNA)
