CHON BURI, April 10 (TNA) – A local man, who raped and killed a German tourist on Sichang Island in Chon Buri confessed to the crime as the police took him to the scene for the crime reenactment yesterday.
Ronnakorn Romruen, 24 admitted he was high on crystal meth before he raped and killed a 27-year-old German tourist on Sunday.
He encountered the victim, who travelled on a rented motorcycle and followed her to a remote spot on the mountain.
He raped her and hit the victim with rock in the face and head many times for fear that she would go to the police and concealed her body behind rock and covered it with leaves.
The man was charged with premeditated murder, rape and concealing the body.
After the crime re-enactment, his mother arrived at the police station and tearfully apologized to the media on the behalf of her son.
Local residents and traders on Sichang Island are worried the incident will scare away tourists from the island and affect tourism.
They said such brutal crime has never happened before on the peaceful island. The murder was arrested, so they want tourists to keep coming to the island. (TNA)
