BANGKOK, April 5 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha praised Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai for submitting an open letter with suggestions to tackle toxic dust particles to him.
Government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said the premier thanked for the university’s participation in solving the air pollution problem.
The government welcomed useful proposals. The Interior Ministry and Chiang Rai governor will take them for consideration.
President of Mae Fah Luang University is a member of Chiang Rai’s committee in tackling haze and forest fires.
The prime minister said that the work to combat the dust particles was more efficient after his visit to Chiang Mai on April 2.
The hotspots were reduced in nine provinces and the operation centers were set up to solve the problems in the sub-district level.
The tiny dust has become a national agenda. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment was assigned to discuss with neighbouring countries on solutions to trans-boundary haze under the ASEAN environment ministers cooperation framework, the spokesman said. (TNA)
