BANGKOK, March 30 (TNA) — The state-run Airports of Thailand (AoT) has decided to split the bidding of duty-free shops at Suvarnabhumi and three airports in the provinces into two contracts in an attempt to prevent monopoly criticisms from the public.
The AoT board on Thursday agreed to divide the bidding into two contracts.
Nitinai Sirismatthakarn, president of the AoT said the first contract is for Suvarnabhumi while the second is for three provincial airports — Chiang Mai, Phuket and Hat Yai airports
Administrative concession at Suvarnabhumi Airport will be given to only one corporate, according to the AoT board.
Originally, the AoT planned to offer winning bidder the rights to operate at all four international airports. But Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha stepped in and ordered the AoT to reconsider the issue.
Terms of reference (ToR) for auctioning at Suvarnabhumi Airport have been posted on the website of AoT while ToR for the rest will go online next week.
The AoT will sell bidding next Monday. (TNA)
