PHETCHABURI, March 1 (TNA) – A couple was killed Friday
morning in Thailand’s western Phetchaburi province after a train collided with
a pickup truck.
The tragic accident occurred when the husband, Mana
Thapkaew, was driving his truck to take his wife, Wasana Moedee, to a bus
station Friday morning.
After leaving their house, just 300 meters from the rail
track, Mana apparently was not aware of the approaching express train as he was
crossing the track, Phetchaburi police said.
After the collision, the Bangkok-Yala express train No. 174
skidded on the track for another 50 meters while the pick-up truck was ravaged
and spun off the rail track.
Both of them were instantly killed, police said.
Despite being a main passageway for commuters in Tha Rap
town, the railroad crossing has no traffic barrier.(TNA)
