BANGKOK, Feb 20 (TNA) – Thailand’s political parties
continue their campaign trail to woo voters for the March 24 poll.
Political parties have held their rallies since election
registration earlier this month for the first election since a 2014 military
coup, and campaigning have heated up.
Former prime minister and Democrat Party leader Abhisit
Vejjajiva stressed while helping his party candidate for a Bangkok constituency
that his party refused to be drawn into war of words but rather focus on
presenting party policies to voters.
Bhumjaithai Party leader Anuthin Charnvirakul also led his
party’s candidates in a campaign in Bangkok, meeting with residents at Lumpini
Park Wednesday morning.
His party had touted progressive policies for Bangkok
residents to ease traffic congestion and make city dwelling even more pleasant,
he said.
One of the proposals is to allow office workers to work at
home one day a week.
Sereepisuth Temeeyaves, leader of Seri Ruam Thai Party, held
a rally in Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Hua Hin town.
His party is one of those who oppose military power in
politics, having called on voters to vote against the junta.
As the party risks being dissolved from nominating His
Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s sister as prime minister candidate, Thai
Raksa Chart Party’s (TRC) candidates go ahead with their election campaign.
The TRC is preparing a motion to the Constitution Court to
defend itself over the party’s possible dissolution after the Election
Commission asked the Court to rule on the party’s dissolution over its
controversial nomination of Princess Ubolratana. (TNA)
