BANGKOK, Feb 18 (TNA) – As the summer will officially begin on Thursday Feb 21, the Meteorological Department forecast the country will experience hotter summer, around 1-2 °C up from last year.
Seven provinces in the North and the West are expected to experience extreme heat with the highest temperature around 42-43°C.
Those provinces are Mae Hong Son, Lampang, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Nakhon Sawan and Kanchanaburi.
However, it is not likely to break the record of 44.6 °C, the hottest temperature measured in Mae Hong Son three years ago.
Summer storms could occur in the upper part of the country, the department has warned.
In the capital of Bangkok, the highest temperature would soar to 39°C.
After the scorching and arid summer, the rainy season will begin in mid-May. (TNA)
