BANGKOK, Feb 8 (TNA) – Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has accepted the invitation of the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) to be its prime minister candidate while denying he wants to extend his power.
He released his statement on the decision at 9.15am, insisting he wanted to work for the national and public interest and he had careful consideration before making the decision.
“The decision is not so easy because the country is in its important moment. Although I had been a soldier through my life, I am a person who is ready to sacrifice my life to protect the nation. And I have confidence and strong determination to cooperate with people and bring our nation to progress with peace, unity and social conflict-free conditions,” Gen Prayut said.
He hoped that the upcoming election would lead to an efficient government and House with good governance free of old-fashioned political tactics and power bargaining for vested interest.
He also wrote that he was ready to cooperate with all political parties that shared same ideals and goals in the interest of people, the nation and the monarch. (TNA)
