BANGKOK, Feb 4 (TNA) – Half of schools under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) have installed water sprinkler system to spray water mist in the premises in an attempt to reduce tiny dust particles.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Adminstration (BMA) Pijaya Nagvajara on Monday inspected schools in haze-hit Bangkhutien area.
He said all 16 schools in the districts installed water sprinklers on the top floors outside the school buildings to improve air quality in the schools.
The deputy permanent secretary said he ordered all 437 schools to install sprinkler systems and so far, about 200 schools have already finished installation of the water spraying system.
A teacher at Wat Lao School in Bang Khun Thian district said the school spent 10,000 baht to install sprinklers, which was completed yesterday.
It operates since 6 a.m. for three hours at a time and it stops for one hour. (TNA)
