BANGKOK, Jan 26 (TNA) — Kasetsart University has joined forces with a private firm in producing a degradable product which could store food and dissolve naturally automatically, in an attempt to conserve environment in Thailand.
Associate Professor Apisit Songsasen, dean of the Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Science, said that his faculty has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in launching the ‘SCI KU GO ZERO WASTE’ with KM Packaging Co, Ltd to introduce the latest innovative food packaging produce which could help cutting the use of over 450,000 pieces of foam and plastic products annually.
The food centre at the Faculty of Science has already stopped using foam, but it is still using plastic products due to quality problems.
However, this signed cooperation is believed to help support the food centre to switch to using degradable glass which could replace plastic glass in future.
Meanwhile, Pazin Kamolsuwan, CEO of the company, said his company realises the significance of environment conservation and believes the programme should start among students first because they would become fine adults in caring environment in future.
Mr Pazin said the company has chosen Kasetsart University because it has the faculty teaching environments.
He said the company’s product could be dissolved by itself within 180 days and, initially, the firm will introduce the product value about 200,000 baht to test the university demand. (TNA)
