BANGKOK, Jan 25 (TNA) – The country’s first clinic to treat illnesses related to air pollution has been opened at state-run Nopparatrajathanee Hospital.
Dr Somboon Thosabowon, director of the hospital, said the critical problem of hazardous dust particles was likely to be prolonged and thus prompted the hospital management to open its pollution clinic, which was the first of its kind in the country, to treat people suffering from air pollution in particular.
Staff of the clinic would treat patients and follow them up to gather useful information which could be beneficial to researches on air pollution including topics concerning its impacts on people, related illnesses and the proper use of face masks, he said.
Dr Adul Banthukul, deputy director of the hospital, said such pollution clinics could expand at other public hospitals and medical institutions in the future.
The new clinic at Nopparatrajathanee Hospital handed out information about the clinic and its services and hazardous particulate matter with 2.5 micrometers or less in diameter (PM2.5), he said. (TNA)
