BANGKOK, Jan 21 (TNA) — Deputy Prime Minister/Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon has ordered security authorities in the far South to protect people of all religions and not be provoked by militants.
Defence Ministry spokesman Kongcheep Tantrawanit said that Gen Prawit laid down the order and assured that the government was adhering to peaceful solutions, peace talks, development projects to improve the life of local residents, campaign for multicultural society, the protection of justice and human rights, educational development, the rehabilitation of affected people and intensified measures to ensure public safety.
“Gen Prawit told local security authorities to ignore attempts to trigger religious conflicts and work with calmness and cautions. They must refrain from revenge, protect innocent people and support religious activities at all religious places in the three southern border provinces so that people of all religions adhere to their religious principles, mercy and non-violent means. This will help bring violent militants to live a normal life peacefully with others in the society,” Lt Gen Kongcheep said. (TNA)
