BANGKOK, Jan 16 (TNA) — Health, online, tourism and startup businesses have a bright prospect while rented book, handicraft, media discs and mass media businesses are doomed this year, according to the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
Thanavat Pholvichai, director of the UTCC’s economic and business forecasting centre, said e-commerce was the top business, up from the third position last year, because consumers preferred conveniences and it offered a wide range of marketing channels and had low costs.
The second position belongs to medical services and beauty businesses because consumers prioritize health care.
At the third rank is cosmetics and skincare business, followed by information technology, logistics, games, financial technology, electronic payment, hostels, street food, food and beverage, businesses related to the elderly, life insurance, tuition, infrastructure development, dietary supplements, car care, printed materials, billboards and packaging.
On the other negative side, rented book business is the most doomed for this year, followed by businesses of handicraft, wooden furniture, CD and DVD production, internet cafes, printed media and magazines, leather products, landline phones, private schools, farm product middlemen, toys, galvanized steel sheets, old-fashioned retail, artificial flowers and leaves, rubber products and palm oil.
Mr Thanavat said that successful professions for this year were led by doctors due to their insufficient number, followed by data scientists, software developers, pilots, online marketers and financial professionals. (TNA)
