BANGKOK, Jan 10 (TNA) – Students at a private school in
Bangkok have been allowed to wear casual clothes instead of uniforms for the
first time in a pilot experimental project.
The move by Bangkok Christian College (BCC) to let secondary
students dressed casually once a week has generated opposition and criticism.
BCC’s management says it wants to experiment on how the
casual dress affects students’ performance and allow them to express their
individuality and creativity.
Students will leave their uniforms at home every Tuesday
throughout this semester to make the school a happier place.
Responding to criticism, school director Suphakit
Jitklongsup said the project had been planned for over a decade based on
researches that show casual dress helped unleash student’s creativity and cease
pressure on them.
“We want to make BCC a school of happiness and teach
students to live harmoniously in the society and behave appropriately in order
to gain social acceptance,” he said. (TNA)
